china reacting to world financial crisis

in this article by Arnaud Rodier on le Figaro on line, you can find what the chinese goverment is doing in order to minimize the impact of the world financial crisis in their homeland.
first the president of economic affairs asked the entreprises not to dismiss workers for the incoming year in a plan to confirm stability to the economic system.
then the goverment decide to get an higher standard to define poverty: instead of 82 euros, now 115 euros ( year income) will be considered the limit to be granted statal aids.

Now that the great rush for building the Olimpics structures is over and left many without a job, and considering that the growth rate (8%) of the country is slowing down and in some area the big enterprises already started dismissing thousand of people, the way the government find not to have too many unemployed in the streets is not renewing their permit of staying in the area where they worked ( which is compulsory to get a job) so that many will have to go back to the countryside where they originally came from.

And while the economic differences between the chineses in the last years are growing even faster then what it was supposed to be, there are fears of a social explosion..

No place to stay for the Obamas in Washington

the Obama family received a denial when asking for a place in Blair House, the official guest residence across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House.
Mr Obama wanted to help the transition between schools for his daughters but will have to find another place to stay before the 15th of January, 5 days before he is going to be elected President, when Blair House will be available for him.
This is not a warm welcome from the Bush's adminstration, even if the two enturages are trying to show how well the families are getting along..
